          BIOGRAPHY

 Pianist and educator, Joe Brancato resides in Western New York, where he has served as tutor/evaluator at Empire State College as well as two years in the same capacity at Medaille College in Buffalo New York. At Medaille Joe also taught Music History, along with individual piano instruction. Joe also held the position of jazz piano instructor at the Community Music School of Buffalo for 4 years from 2011-2015. 

He has studied jazz improvisation and advanced harmony at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, as well as the University at Buffalo, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. 

 

Joe has recorded on the QRS label, including "When I Fall in Love" and "Broadway Revisited" as a solo performer. He is also featured as co-leader on the "Hidden Treasures" CD release from the "Dave Schiavone /Joe Brancato Quartet". Mr. Brancato is well versed in performing several styles of piano playing and is currently teaching and playing piano, with performances throughout the year as a solo artist and as a leader of small instrumental ensembles {duo /trio/quartet.}

He also has many years of experience as an accompanist to vocalists, both jazz and classical.


Joe has been teaching privately for 35 years offering instruction to beginning and advanced students. In addition to a fundamental approach to learning the piano, he presents classes in jazz improvisation to fit the needs of his students.
